Hi, i'm just posting this thread because I never really got this question answered. Does anyone know if the American Audio CK-1000 has the 100 % pitch range like on the CDI series, and does it have extra LINE inputs, so I can hook up software such as Rane Serato Scratch Live?

yea, the ck-1000's have 100% pitch control and 2 lines for what you need extra...you can also hook up an mp3 or cd burner...
|
||||
|
actually, it has 4/8/16% pitch control...
nice simple set...pretty good at the same time... its not beginner type nore higher expectation type either, it's like right in the middle... i really enjoy using them... no on board effects though...thats the only thing...only loop, seamless loop, bop, scratch... jus somethin simple... -illness |

All right, so there's no 100% master tempo? Because I saw the Master Tempo button on there, have you tested that out? Also, is there anyway to adjust the cut on the faders for scratching? Which brings me to, how's the scratching? Get at me on MSN: omgitzdjtekno@hotmail.com it's much quicker and I'm thinking of selling my turntables and mixer to get this portable setup, or I might just save up for Pioneer CDJ-800s.

How in the world do I get the American Audio CK-1000 hooked up with Serato Scratch Live ? Normally what I do when setting up the Serato is to run the line output from each CD player into the input from the Serato, and the output from the Serato into the mixer. BIG PROBLEM with the CK-1000 that I've run into is that there is no accessible line out from the CD players that I can into the Serato. Does anyone have a solution for this ?

C-Dub, I am having the same issue. I am currently experimenting with it. I ran the RCA cable from the mixer to the Serato device using the Master Out from the back of the mixer. Trouble is there is only one line out. This got me a signal but only for one channel (as you are looking at the computer screen). I figure that if I get a four-way rca cable and run it from the Master Out and plug into the two inputs on the Serato device, hopefully that will give me two signals??? I don't know, I am going to Radio Shack after work today to see if they have a four-way rca cable. I called the pro-dj shop where I bought CK-1000 and the Serato Scratch Live and asked them. The tech guy said that they aren't compatible. If that is the case, I will probably try to sell my CK 1000 and get a multiple component set. I will let you know how it goes.
Hey, does anyone else get a loud humm when they plug in a ipod or other mp3 player to the aux jack at the top of the ck-1000? |

I tried my fix with negative results. Wasn't able to get a signal. My dilema now after spending $500 for the Serato system is do I sell it or sell the CK 1000 and upgrade to a system that is adaptable with the Serato?

I just purchased this unit and a few thing right off the back I noticed.
I can not find where the Auto BPM is, when I tap the BPM button I see the BPM's but shuts off quickly. I thought that it would read the BPM's like the Beatkeeper does. I can't even hook up my Beatkeeper because there are no line outputs from each cd player. Am I doing something wrong? |

This is how you can mod your CK-800 or CK-1000 to use torq or serrato
http://forums.adjaudio.com/eve...1038573/m/4041055106 I have used this unit for a few gigs, and each time after about 6 hours one of the cd decks freeze. I have to actually turn the unit off and on. then things seem to go back to normal. anyone else have this problem?? |

Also I don't think It has 100% pitch range. I use the CK-800 w 4/8/16% range. But it has a very cool feature where use can spin the platter backwards until the track reaches a complete stop. You can keep the wheel in motion and it will stay stoped. as soon as you stop moving the wheel the track resumes at its preset speed. very cool feature!!

So is not CK1000 Not compatible with M-audio Connectiv? Its because mixer only has output source right? Can I still use the connectiv by just using the line inputs and using the maudio controller on line 1 or 2 on the mixer?

You can use the unit with torq or serrato as an external mixer, but not as control cd's.
If you want to use it as control cd's you can mod it like I did: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/6692/img4385.jpg I have the red wire and two blacks running from each cd'j, to the output jacks which i installed at the bottom right Also if you plan to use the unit for serious gigs you want to install a fan inside it. My unit would overheat after 6 hours each and every gig. But not to fear, this is done very easily http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/6996/img4391.jpg Wire a small 12V computer fan into the power supply board at the front right of the unit http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/680/img4394b.jpg Then place it right under cd1's board w some tie raps. So... out of the factory, the unit is a little scetchy, but now with the mods, i've built it into one kick ass unit. |

How do you add the 4 RCA outputs to the right of the XLR connections? I'm not a tech guy and might messed up my unit if I mess around with it. Do I need extra cables or other stuff to install on the ck1000?

I used a connector like this You have to manually drill the holes, it is thin metal and very tough to drill, also takes some filing to get smooth and a black marker to make it look clean(remove the output circuit board before drilling. I accidentally drilled off a transister. The thin metal will suck in the drill when it braks through, I was lucky it still works fine) Solder six wires, the thicker the better. trim cover so that it may close. So ya, its quite the ordeal, but there is not to much to screw up. The hardest part is def the drilling, lining up your holes properly and filing all the burs. just be carefull with your solder connections. comes apart and back together pretty easily |

DO NOT do THE FAN Mod. At least from where I said to hook it up. Need to find new source for the POWER...
*** You can use a regulare 4" fan from a power supply. Cut off the Yellow wire if there is one. Tie it into a 9-12V DC Adaptor. Low Output min is 210ma. Blow it in threw the left hand side. Secure fan with it able to breath. *** This method has been tested at my last Loft Jam. Unit ran smooth all night AAA+++ This is much simpler for you Dj Space kid. It was such a relief to have it run smooth all night. now just gotta figure out how to get power to the fan inside ???? |
