I use the american audio velocity and I was wondering if anyone using the same unit had problem withem reading cds? I keep my cds very clean and in good condition for the most part. I just placed an order for the mp3 version of the veocity and hope that thes will be a little better at reading cds.

Hey, I have problems with the MP3's. Some of them wont read all the time. The things I've done with my Velocity MP3 is to burn the CD then go and test the cd make sure ALL the SONGS play. Some wont and the ones that didn't work I re-Download them and then Re-burn them and it seemed to work.
Any good on the velocitys? |

Hey Q & willy we have a velocity black cd mp3 player and its been pretty good about reading everything. But our problem is ejecting them. It keeps saying disc error and wont eject. If anyone has had this problem let me know what they did. THANKS

Hello,
I have had that problem with 2 different Velocitys that I've owned. I had to 1, Cold reset the machine.(Turn off the machine while you turn it back on turn the seek button to the left it will say ERASE. Do this to the side that doesn't work.) I also had problems ejecting the Cd's and as a matter a fact I still have that problem. What you need to is when the cd is playing you cannot press the Eject button. So when you need to ejected place a CD (that you will not use in your mix) inside you will feel 2 bars that prevent you to push in the CD then press the eject and you will be able to slightly push the CD in. Make sure the Cd is in (NOT ALL THE WAY IN) when the cd is coming out. You will get better at it in time. I have 2 velocitys and i had problems with both of them. The full way to actually solve your issue is to actually take it to a American Audio store. Hopefully you do live in the LA county where they have the American DJ shop. http://www.americandj.com/AboutUs.aspx You can call them and ask them how to get it fixed. They fixed one DJ by replacing the whole CD trays (both) they charged 100 dollars for parts and labor plus a 10.00 fee for next day service. Lets hope I helped you... Let me know on some updated. peace 1 |

I'm sad to say....none of these tips work. I own the mp3 version, the left side of the deck works when it wants to. It has a hard time reading mp3. 99% of the time it won't read anything. How ever the right side has no problems what so ever. I will say when the left side does work that it works great, but from time to time it will fade in and out of reading a cd. Now how am I suppose to rely on these things? I do plan calling american audio and getting this strightened out, because it sounds like this has been an on going thing with the velocity's. There is nothing to can do to this thing to make magically work, clean it with lens cleaner, air dust it, pray to god, tell it how much you love it, or simply giving it a love rub, IT WON'T WORK. It makes me very fruastrated, $800 on something that doesn't want to work, and then from what I'm hearing they want to charge you for parts and labor when the machine that they made has a manufactur defect to it??? From reading this post I know I'm not the only one who is going through this.

You know what I recently noticed? Remove the Quick Start Plug off... Just unplug it off the velocitys...

Hey DJ Fly thanks for your input I felt the same way as you.But I will say we sent ours in and they fixed it in about 3 weeks & all it cost was 40.00 $ for shipping. We were lucky because the guy we had set up our system stood by us and gave us a loner cd player in it's place. Another American Audio CD player brand new right out of the box that would'nt read cd's.But since we got ours back we've done about 6 jobs and it has been great. Better than new.So hopefully they will take care of you as well. Good Luck
PS Joe Beck from Entertianment Plus is who helped us out Great guy & a Great DJ |

DJFly
Im guessing you have the mixer with Quick Start. If not your OK.. In the back of the Players (NOT THE CD'S) there's a cable that looks like head phoes jack. That should go to your mixer. Unplug that.. (IF THERE IS NOTHING PLUGED IN THAT LOOKS LIKE HEADPHONE JACKS THEN YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT PROBLEM)for some odd reason that makes my Player skip over and over eventhough there is nothing wrong with the CD's.. I know there is something wrong with my mixer... The Quick start is controlled by the Fader.. You dont really need to press play on the players.. By moving the Fader to the other side the song will start and moving it all the way to the oposite side will make th song stop playing... JUST UNPLUG IT.. lol I also do a restart on all new gigs.. When booting turn the seek knob to the left (Either Side) then it will say Erasing.. Then turn it off and do the same thing on the other side... that works ok with me.. I been using the same velocitys for about 2yr no major issues... |

i have had 3 units. 2 regular and 1 mp3. i use traktor scratch and my cds keep skipping. ( they are brand new from traktor) i think they are over heating. any suggestions.. thanks

Well.. Im assuming the traktor scratch is a similar version to Serato.
I have used serato on the velocitys but I havent had that problem.. I have had skipping on some type of music when i burn it.. but just re burned it and solved it. Try resetting it.. by turning it on then turn the SEEK to the left till the LCD says RESET.. do the same thing on each side.. hopefully this works... if not let me know... :-) |
